It's a Blue Martini for Anolis!
A new Anolis LED lighting installation has been specified and installed by Griffin Automation at the Blue Martini club on Fort Lauderdale Beach, Florida, USA.
This replaces the venue's previous neon lighting scheme, bringing with it all the practical and aesthetic advantages of high quality LED fixtures.
Griffin Automation, based in Port St Lucie, Florida, first worked for the Blue Martini brand when its first property launched 10 years ago, where they installed a dance floor lighting rig. Since then, Blue Martini has steadily expanded its portfolio of venues, each time going with the latest available innovations in lighting.
Blue Martini at Fort Lauderdale beach originally opened 6 years ago, complete with a blue and a red neon installation in different areas of the space ..... which had proved consistently unreliable over the years. The atmosphere is that of an upscale hometown martini bar and late night dance club, featuring DJs every night with a broadly 'commercial' music policy, plus live music 6 nights a week.
When they wanted a revamp, Griffin Automation's Tom Griffin proposed converting to LED, and arranged with Robe Inc's David Chesal for an A/B comparison demo to take place to illustrate the quality and properties of the Anolis LED range.
Although the cost of the LED was much greater than the neon had been in its day, the reliability and low running costs of Anolis over the next 10 years were calculated to more than pay for this differential. This convinced independent owner Byron Gardiner that LED was the way forward.
The colour temperature of the Anolis is also a great improvement over the neon, and gives exactly the hues they want - but had never quite been able to achieve - with the neon.
Other advantages, explains Griffin, were that they can run the Anolis off the PC based lighting controller in the DJ booth, which gives the latitude for the whole room to be used as a lighting effect if desired.
Once the installation was approved, Griffin replaced the red neon around the main room with 300 Anolis ArcLink 3 Red LED fixtures, which is ensconced in the ceiling coves running all around the main room.
In a recessed circular ceiling lighting feature, above the main bar, they replaced all the blue neon with 60 pieces of ArcLink 3 Blue LED fixtures.
The design was developed by Tom Griffin in conjunction with David Chesal who also supplied the Anolis. "I'm extremely happy with the product," enthuses Griffin, who recently used Anolis for the first time in another Blue Martini venue at West Palm Beach. "It's absolutely rock solid, easy to install and maintenance free," he states.
The lighting update to Blue Martini, Fort Lauderdale Beach also included the addition of 2 Anolis Recessed ArcSpot 170 ATs which have been added to the rig over the dancefloor and have been painted to match the faux finish ceiling colour scheme so they can blend in unobtrusively. They were chosen for their small size and neat appearance as they sought a discreet fixture that could be concealed from obvious view, but have a real impact over the dancefloor. The Recessed ArcSpot 170ATs can also be swung upwards to hit the stage, providing front light for the band or whoever is performing. They have also been fitted with custom glass Blue Martini gobos which can be projected onto the floor and around the room.
Adjacent to the dance floor - and installed in a previous update - is the very popular “dance platform” in which Anolis ArcSource 12 RGB down lights work together with a frosted glass - back lit floor using ArcLink 3 RGB.
The owners are "delighted" with the new lighting reports Tom Griffin, which has already made a real difference to the vibe and feel of the club.
