Anolis for Austrian public TV Illumination

Austria’s incendiary Sunday night political TV debate - “im ZENTRUM” - has recently changed 'location' - as the studio now has a new backdrop featuring the illuminated exterior of public service broadcaster ORF's HQ building and central production facility in Vienna.

This impressive looking façade is being highlighted by a new Anolis LED lighting scheme, specified and designed by Reinhard Traxler, who wanted to add colour. flair and a new energy to the building frontage.

He also wanted to create a clearly defined reflection of the building in a large pond just outside the entranceway. This has always been a central visual focus of the space during the day, and now it takes on its own ambience and character after dark.

It is the first time that Reinhard Traxler has used Anolis fixtures in one of his designs, for which he specified 5 x Anolis ArcSource 96 RGBCW outdoor fixtures with 25 degree lenses and one ArcSource 96 WW (warm white) with a 45x15 degree lens. All are being controlled inside the building via a LumenRadio wireless DMX system.

Anolis was chosen because it gave the best overall performance after a in-depth comparison between leading competitor brands. The units also had to be HD camera compliant, IP 65 rated and have a very high output.

The Anolis units are floor mounted approximately 10 metres from the front of the L-shaped building, with 2 units used to light the shorter of the two walls and three covering the longer wall.

Their standard setting is cold white, which supports the functional design character of the building with a warm welcoming tone, highlighting the ORF logo and other decorative elements.

As the main entrance to the country's public TV channel, the lighting design has a huge impact on the many after-dark visitors to the building.
