Anolis Adds Soul to Surfers Paradise
Anolis ArcPad 48 SmartWhite LED wash fixtures are illuminating the contours of Soul, a 243 metre tall residential tower and retail complex located in the centre of Surfers Paradise on Australia's Gold Coast.
Soul includes 288 apartments on 77 floors and 5,700 square metres of retail space. When completed, this state-of-the-art building will become the second tallest on the Gold Coast, after Q1.
Tony Dowthwaite from TDLD was commissioned to specify the project's feature lighting. After careful consideration and several onsite tests, he decided on the Anolis ArcPad 48 SmartWhite fixtures with 25 degree lenses to efficiently illuminate the intricate floral iron mesh dome surrounding the complex's retail precinct.
The 23 Anolis fixtures were supplied by Cameron Gunning from VAST in Brisbane. Cameron was also involved in the lighting design consultation and commissioning the installation, which was undertaken by electrical contractors, Stowe Electrical.
Three Anolis ArcPower 348 Rack-mounts provide power and data to the ArcPad fixtures, which are controlled via a wall mounted Anolis Arc Control 1024.
Scenes and lighting cues have been pre-programmed and scheduled to run autonomously via the controller's inbuilt time-clock. The main cue is a slow fade between the 3200°K warm white and the 6000°K cool white.
Anolis Australian distributor, The ULA Group’s Architectural Lighting Manager Blair Terrace comments, "This project is quite unique as it utilises the Anolis ArcPads performing slow fades between several different colour temperatures to achieve a subtle change to the depth and appearance of the lit architecture - an effect more usually reserved for RGB fixtures".
The SmartWhite Anolis ArcPad 48s achieve a vibrant lighting effect, transforming the illuminated surfaces while morphing through a full white light spectrum.
